Travel Jewellery - A Review Blog

If there’s one thing that sucks about travelling, it’s the lack of space in your backpack. Trying to choose what to take of sentimental value is difficult; having to consider whether you can afford to lose it along the way, how likely it is that you’ll use it and how heavy it is to carry day-to-day. There are many options for travel-themed gifts on the likes of Etsy and Amazon, few of which are practical for the lifestyle that it promotes.

Luckily for me, this dilemma was answered by an old school friend who hand makes beautiful personalised jewellery. After throwing a few ideas back and forth, I was sent a beautiful necklace that’s both travel-themed and sentimental. They say good things come in small packages, and this little piece is no exception. Not only is it small and lightweight, it never needs to leave your body, so the worry of losing it is minimal. Most people I know wear jewellery at work, on the beach and on a night out, so it is well used. The design we chose was a symbol of our relationship; always on the move but close to the heart.

I’d like to say a big thankyou to Charlotte Baker Handmade Jewellery for designing this lovely necklace and for helping me work out the travellers’ dilemma. If anybody is interested in getting your own personalised jewellery, Charlotte takes commissions for any type of jewellery for all genders, so if you’re looking to take a piece of home with you, or you have a long distance relationship, or you’d like to leave your mark with a very special traveller, then get in touch here.
